Pharmaceutical Patent Litigation
The Project
A Fortune 100 pharmaceutical client and its outside counsel in Washington, DC partnered with LawyerLink's eReview team in Chicago to review electronic documents collected from over 50 custodians, in connection with a patent lawsuit involving one of the client's most important drugs.
Challenges Met
- The documents included highly technical and trade secret research documents from the client's top scientists.
- Extremely stringent requirements for redaction of sensitive patient information for HIPAA compliance.
- Thousands of documents measured 400-600 pages in length - approximately 60 times the industry standard length - with heavy redactions throughout.
- The client's review application encountered difficulties handling the document length and redaction requirements.
- Significant volumes of documents were located at client facilities, in paper form.
High Performance Delivered
- Using a review team varying between 10 and 40 attorneys, the client was able to rapidly review and produce several hundred thousand electronic documents - at a savings of several million dollars compared to outside counsel review.
- LawyerLink attorneys completed all project deadlines ahead of schedule.
- LawyerLink's proprietary, structured staffing techniques and continuous quality control processes ensured continuity of work product, high levels of accuracy and optimum project efficiency.
- Focused lines of interaction between LawyerLink and the Client’s out-of-state litigation counsel ensure prompt communication of substantive issues and case questions, and development of a close working relationship between the review team and outside counsel.
UPDATE: The Client has asked the LawyerLink team to remain on the case to review the opposing party’s documents and to assist in deposition and strategic case preparation.
